U.S. financial markets will remain closed on Monday, February 16, 2026, in observance of Presidents Day. The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, and bond markets all halt trading for the federal holiday, resuming operations on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Despite the closure, Sunday evening trading saw modest gains in US stock futures. Dow futures ROSE 0.3%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures advanced 0.2%-0.3%. This follows a volatile week for major indexes, with investors now eyeing Federal Reserve rate signals for market direction.

The holiday commemorates George Washington's birthday, though it never aligns with his actual birthdate of February 22. Market participants should note this annual closure when planning trading strategies around mid-February.
